Last week an opportunity came my way to review a product. And since it would incorporate photographs, it was the perfect product for me to try out and share my experience with my readers.
I was able to download the Full Version of muvee Reveal immediately from their website without any problems. They also have a 15 day Trial Version that you can download and try before you buy. Always a nice feature!
When I first opened the program, my first thought was “simple”. This looks like a fairly simple program to use. Not much of a learning curve, which is a good thing for this multi-tasking mom. As you can see from this screenshot, there are not many choices when you first get into the program, but don’t let this fool you into thinking that you don’t have options. There are plenty of options available to personalize your production.
The first thing you need to do is import your video and/or photographs. All you need to do is click the “Add” button and a drop down menu appears. Select a photo or video (or more by holding down the Ctrl key and selecting.)
Next you can choose from 11 different Styles to give your muvee production some character. And for all you scrapbookers out there, they even have a style for you so that you can take digital scrapbooking to a whole new level. Each Style has custom functions that you can adjust depending on your mood.
And if you didn’t find what you were looking for from the Styles menu, you can go online (links within the program itself) to their website and purchase more Styles which are affordably priced. You can also find some Free downloads as well. I downloaded the “Back to School” Style so that I can do a montage of school pictures and scanned art projects for some home movies to gift this holiday season.
The third step to creating your muvee is to add music from your computer. Didn’t take me long at all to upload a few songs. And don’t worry about the music interfering with the sound from a video during playback, you can change the setting to lower the music or stop it altogether during the video portions.
This is where you can tweak your video with the settings I mentioned.

That is all there is to it. In a matter of minutes you can create a professional video you can proudly share with family and friends. You can easily upload your productions to just about any video service online. Or if you prefer a little privacy, muvee Reveal has a sister site at shwup.com for your video hosting/sharing needs. There is a variety of other ways to save your production including burning it to a disc and in high definition even! I think this program is well worth the price of $79.95
I have used other programs in the past for creating movies or CD’s with photographs and they were always complicated and frustrating to use. In fact the last video I did was back in 2004 of my son’s first birthday.
With muvee Reveal, I am glad I have video recording abilities with my Canon Rebel T1a digital camera because I plan to put it to good use. Starting with my son’s first school field trip to Riley’s Farm next week. I volunteered to be the Photography Mom. And thanks to a fellow friend who is also going and taking her car, we won’t be taking the school bus. Thank you Tiffany!
