This has been a very long week. On Wednesday night, my daughter lost just about everything she owned in a house fire. Fortunately, everyone was safe.

This event was a reminder to us all of how precious life is and our memories. My daughter wasn’t upset about what could be replaced, she was devastated over losing memories of her childhood. Like this scrapbook I made throughout her school years (which was salvaged from the fire) along with her great grandmother’s musical jewelry box.

School Years Scrapbook semi destroyed by fire

And I also realized that I had failed in teaching her to backup her computer and all her photos saved on there. Epic fail as a photographer mom! LOL

My words of wisdom to everyone, take photographs of report cards, special awards, diplomas, etc that your children earn throughout their childhood before scrapbooking them as well as the completed scrapbook pages too. And then backup your photos.
