I think just about every girl keeps a diary at some point in their childhood. And like many, I continued journaling well into adulthood. When life got depressing and lonely after the death of my first husband, journaling became my therapy. Life continued on, I met someone new, fell in love and had another child. And then I just got too busy for the day to day journaling. I rarely journaled, even after my daughter got me a special book for recording my thoughts on paper. Last week though, while browsing through the Apps on iTunes, I came across some journaling apps. I was intrigued and downloaded a few journaling app for iPad to try. And I think I found a keeper.
Here’s the Description from iTunes:
Everyday.me is a smart personal journal with photos/videos, maps, calendar, checkins, tagging, search and more. This private journal also imports your activities from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Foursquare. Capture your most important moments with Everyday.me, with backup to Dropbox, Evernote, or Email.
Everyday.me works offline, and syncs automatically when back online. Find out what you were up to a year ago with our Blast from the Past, or record your mood this moment with our Smiley feature. You can also email anything to post@everyday.me to update your timeline journal. Attachments work too!
I think my favorite feature is that it imports my activity from the social media sites I have linked up. Let’s face, we love sharing EVERY. LITTLE. DETAIL. of our lives online these days. This app makes it super easy to journal each and every day. And if there is something I’d rather not have in my journal, I can easily delete it.
I can also add my own entries as well to the Everyday.Me journaling app for iPad. Which is perfect for those private thoughts you don’t share with every one in the world online. You also have the option to insert photos, leave a mark on a map and tag posts. Which makes it handy if you’re looking for something special several years down the road. And should you feel the urge to share your private thoughts, there’s a button within the journal entry to share online or send by email.
Everyday.Me allows you to view what you were doing since the beginning of your online world. Here’s a screenshot from my online account of events dating back to 2008. Which is about the time I started sharing my thoughts with the world. Actually, in the beginning, I was online mainly to keep tabs on my teenage daughter. Boy, those were the days. NOT!
Blast From The Past! This is a pretty cool feature too. Every day you’ll receive an email from Everyday.Me with highlights from your past. This is a great feature to have when you first start using Everyday.Me because you can go back and journal things you might have forgotten about. As you can see here in this screenshot, this time last year, my family and I were busy building our own greenhouse in our backyard. Gotta tell say that project sucked. It was a lot of work that was destroyed in less than two months because of numerous wind storms that whipped through the desert last Spring.
You can also set reminders to prompt you to journal everyday. For those of us who are too busy or just plain absent-minded in our old age, this is a good feature to utilize. You can also customize the font used in your journals entries. Not the same as your own personal handwriting but still nice to have a choice. Perhaps they could offer an upgrade of having your handwriting converted to a font like “Send Out Cards” does for its greeting cards. (Just a suggestion) And so that you never lose your journal, they have built in various ways to backup your journal. You can use Dropbox, Evernote or have the backup sent to you by email.
How many of you remember having a journal that had a little pad lock attached to it? Like this would seriously keep a determined person from reading your journal! Well Everyday.Me has the option to set a Password for your journal. Though probably not full proof against a hacker, but it should keep your thoughts private from most prying eyes.
So I guess it’s safe to say at this point, that I really like this Everyday.Me journaling app that can be found on iTunes. I think this is the 2nd best app I have downloaded since getting my iPad Mini. Especially since this App is free. My favorite App, Preveal, retails for $74.99. So if your a busy Mom like myself who would love to start journaling, I would definitely recommend getting this journaling app for iPad.
