This rose is called, Peppermint Splash. It is a Hybrid Tea Rose. They produce enormous blooms, each one different than the next bloom. They generally have perfect high-centered form, and smell of fresh honeysuckle. The petals aren’t exactly striped – instead, they’re a swirled confection of rich pink against Christmas red and snowy white. This has always been one of my favorite roses.
Life in the desert can be harsh on roses. But if you take the time you can create an ideal growing medium for roses. They also require plenty of water during the summer because the temperatures can reach a sweltering 110 degrees plus here some days. This rose pictured was captured while blooming in the Rose Garden located at the Community Center in Yucca Valley, California.
