Yesterday I took a trip down memory lane. It was a bitter sweet journey as I learned of the death of my cousin Kevin. I have not seen him for years as there are many miles between us, but I have fond childhood memories from when the family all still lived in California. Kevin is the tall one in the back bouncing the beach ball. The blond child with her back to the camera is me. We were celebrating my 2nd birthday and the fourth of July all at the same time.
And here we are some years later, again in the backyard playing with water to beat the summer heat. This time I was celebrating my 10th birthday while visiting him and the family in Texas.
While going through the many albums of family pictures since I have inherited the role of family historian via photographs I found this photograph of yours truly as a baby. If my mother’s memory serves me right, I was about 6 months old in this photograph. She was very proud of the doll I am holding as it was one she made for me herself. I think the doll is bigger than me. I wonder what ever happened to that doll?
Another reason that I am going through old photographs is to participate in a Blog Hop to get to know other bloggers and the theme for this week is Favorite Baby Pictures. I am sure that we all have a few hundred stashed away in piles to be scrapbooked. These two photographs I am about to share were not taken by me, I had them professional taken when my children were approximately 4 months and ten years apart. Considering I spent a few hundred dollars to have them framed definitely says, “Favorite Baby Photos” to me. These photographs don’t do the wall portraits justice.
