I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week. Mine has been rather exciting. To find out more, head on over to my Facebook Page to keep up with what’s been happening.
And now for this week’s Fix It Friday hosted by the fabulous photogs over at I Heart Faces. I love this image (except for the fact that it is definitely underexposed.) Thank goodness for Lightroom!
In Lightroom, I increased the Exposure by 2 stops. Then I reduced the camera noise, cropped the image and sharpened/brightened the eyes. Then I exported the image into CS5.
I brought the image into CS5 to deal with the issue I had with the background. When I increased the Exposure I lost the blackness of the background. So I did a selection around the girl, Refined the area around the hair and then created a Mask (which made the background disappear. Then all I had to do was select a Digital Background to drop into the image. I selected this Digital Backdrop because I liked the drama of the canvas and felt that the lighting on the backdrop was similar to the original lighting of this photograph. I have learned over time that when you use Digital Backgrounds, you have to pay attention to the lighting used vs. the lighting in the original image since the goal of using digital backgrounds is not to make it look fake at all.
How do you feel about using Digital Backgrounds? How would you have edited this image?
