Last Friday evening I had the pleasure of photographing Vickie M. (a new client and good friend of mine) as she was in need of some updated Business Headshots. Vickie had never been to Pioneertown before and I thought this would be a perfect location for her as she loves horses and the old west. She fell in love with Mane Street and the various shops along the way immediately. One store in particular grabbed her interest. Maz Amar Art Pottery. In fact, she was so fascinated with this Art Pottery store, she asked me to take a few pictures of the shop from the outside just for her.
Maz Amara Art Pottery does indeed have some beautiful pottery available for sale in their little store. I personally fell in love with their “Drunken Shots” glasses. Each one is a unique piece of art. I think their too pretty to drink out of myself. And they make all of their pottery right there in the little shop.
Speaking of their shop, the owner, Thomas Alban, even shared a story how Claude “Pappy” Allen used to live in the “store” at one time. That’s the beauty and charm of Mane Street in Pioneertown. It was originally built in 1946 as a Hollywood Movie Set and today many of the buildings are being used as homes. It’s a charming little place, so if you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend a stroll down Mane Street.
