So I have totally spaced for the last several months and neglected to blog my thoughts on the ProShow Producer Software by Photodex.  I was lucky enough to win a gift certificate for the software last February while attending WPPI in Las Vegas, Nevada.  It was one of two prizes I actually won while there.  Damn! I was on quite a winning streak this time last year because the only way I was able to go to WPPI was because I won a full pass.

Obviously I’ve had plenty of time to evaluate this program and put it through its paces since I’ve had it almost a year now.  Though honestly I still have a lot to learn because this program does sooo much.  And let me put it out there up front that this is not a paid or sponsored post.  But the wonderful people at Photodex have generously given me a special to pass on just for my readers (details to follow).  So a huge thank you to Amanda at Photodex!

Photodex offers 3 different products depending on your needs.  I had originally won a year of ProShow Web but after getting a thorough demonstration at WPPI during the Trade Show and then kicking the tires around with their free trial, I upgraded to ProShow Producer because I can be a control freak.  Especially when it comes to the products and services I like to offer to my clients.

Like many popular slideshow creating options available to professional photographers, ProShow Producer has a wizard that allows you to select your images, video segments and music and then it will use its “magic” to create a slideshow for you.  This is generally how I start the process when creating slideshows.  You then have the ability to preview their creation and either accept it or send it back to the wizard to see what else they can create.  This usually gives me a good base starting point.  Like I said earlier, I can be a control freak so I always end up tweaking each and every slideshow for my clients.

Here are some of the highlights about ProShow Producer in pictures of course (click image to enlarge and scroll through images):

Prior to discovering ProShow Producer at WPPI last year, I used to use a program called muvee Reveal (you can read my review about it here).  It was a good starting point for me to providing custom slideshows for my clients.  And then Animoto came out, which has become very popular among the photographers I know.  I gave it a try, but it just wasn’t for me.

I just feel that there is so much I can do with ProShow Producer and not get bored or run out of ideas or themes.  Especially since I can create my own templates, when I have the time.  And not only can I used it to create one of a kind slideshows for my clients (like this one for the McCullough Family), I can use it to create captivating slideshows to post on YouTube to market my business.  I mean, there are just so many possibilities.

They also have developed plugins for Lightroom so you can quickly export your edited session images right into ProShow Producer.  Talk about a time saver when it comes to a photographers workflow.  And yes, they even have an App for iPhones and iPads.

If you are in the market for a program that will allow you to create slideshows for your clients and yourself, I would definitely recommend that you give ProShow Producer a try, especially since the trial is free.  And then if you decide to purchase, the wonderful people are offering you, my readers, a 10% Discount off your purchase for the next 30 days.  Here’s the promo code:  SVK7GWUC  This is good for 10% off ProShow Gold, ProShow Producer and ProShow Web for 30 days. Just enter it in online during checkout to get the discount.

Happy Creating Everyone!  And if you do decide to try it out, let me know so I can check out your creations.
