Sorry this post is late this week. As you can see from the photo above, my desk is covered with strips of red and green tissue paper. This is the craft project I will be helping my son’s 1st grade class to make this morning as a Christmas Craft the kids can give their families.
I had a tutorial all planned when I realized that I had already covered the subject of holiday photos last week. Next time I will remember to tear out the pages from my “Idea Book” once I have written the blog post.
As my regular readers know become a subscriber if you’re not already I love digital scrapbooking. I find it less time consuming since all I need is my computer, my digital photos and most importantly my digital scrapbooking software. I am partial towards Heritage Makers Studio since I am a Personal Publishing Consultant with the company.
A great thing to include in your scrapbooking stories are the activities leading up to the holiday festivities. Take me volunteering to do this Christmas Craft with my son’s class. Last night as I worked on the project myself so I look like I know what I am doing today in class, I took some photos of my work in progress.
This morning while I am actually in the class teaching, I will be taking photos of the students as they make their decoupage votive candle holder. I am sure I will capture many funny moments as they students are gluing pieces of tissue paper to glass. I can almost see the red and green covered fingertips now.
And once the students have created their masterpieces, I plan to get photos of each student showing off their project. Doing so will serve a few purposes. One, it will give the student a boost of self-esteem knowing that they accomplished this task and that someone cares enough to record this moment. Secondly, they will have a photos to show their families of the crafting process and will be able to retell that story. And lastly these photos will be the perfect way for me to end the storybook I plan to create for my son and one that I will make available to the parents who are not fortunate enough to be able to volunteer in the classroom.
So to review today’s Digital Tutorial on Scrapbooking:
-
Every story has a beginning (the prep work)
-
The middle (the students working on their projects)
-
And a happy ending (the students proudly displaying their finished works of art.)
By keeping this in mind as you meet with family and friends during this holiday season, you will be able to record some wonderful moments that can be handed down through the generations. So go forth my digital students and begin creating your stories. And please come back and see me if you are interested in Heritage Makers for publishing your holiday memories.
Wishing you and your families the happiest of holidays this Ruby Red Tuesday!
