Landscape Photographers. We’re early risers. So this past Sunday when a group of photographers from the Morongo Basin heard they were opening the Whitewater Preserve at sunrise, instead of their usual 8am, we piled into our cars and head out on a little road trip. If you have never been to the Whitewater Preserve, I strongly suggest you go. It is such a quaint little place nestled in the mountains just off Interstate 10.
We made it to the front gate well before sunrise. Gates were still closed so we headed back down the road a bit to a river overpass. And that’s where I was able to walk up the river a bit to capture this sunrise images.
And once the Preserve was open, we parked our cars, grabbed our gear and set out on the hiking trail. That’s one thing I love about hiking with other photographers who appreciate the landscape. Whenever someone finds something interesting to photograph we all photograph the same thing or find something else of interest. Now if I was hiking with my family, they would easily get bored and tired of me photographing everything that interests me. Like the wildflowers that are blooming now that Spring is spreading its wings.
And you know what we photographer’s do when we’re done hiking?
Put away the somewhat heavy photography gear and bring out the food. Who needs picnic tables? The trunk of a car works just fine!
